Nutrition is part of our wellness and overall Health.
There is no evidence for any specific diets in multiple sclerosis.
A well balanced diet – is recommended;
Carbohydrates – 45 – 65% of your
total daily diet
Fat – 20-35% of your total daily diet
Protein – 10 – 35% of your total daily diet
General principles for one day:
1. Eat to satisfy your appetite.
2. Decrease sugars or fat+sugar as in cakes or cookies.
3. Eat high fiber diet – whole grains, legumes, vegetables & fruits.
4. Eat 5-10 servings of grains/whole grains.
5. Eat 5-10 servings of fruits & vegetables.
6. Eat 2-3 servings of dairy preferably low fat.
7. Eat 1-3 servings of meat (90 grams ~ 3 ounces), fish, beans, peas, and nuts.
8. Eat 3 teaspoons of oils.
9. Eat polyunsaturated fats – omega 3 (wild fish) food more than omega 6.
10. Decrease salt in your diet as needed.
11. Drink enough water – 3.7 liter for men & 2.7 liter for women but adjust based on your health assessment
and other diseases!
12. Always consult with your team – your primary care provider, your neurology expert, and your nutritionist!
