Obesity
Obesity and Overweight conditions can lead to multiple medical issues and especially when you have MS it might increased your walking difficulty, lead to more fatigue
and other difficulties.
Body mass index (BMI) is considered to be one of the ways to check if you are above your ideal weight.
BMI is calculated based on your
Weight and Height.
BMI above 25 or equal 25 = is overweight
and
BMI above 30 or equal 30 = is obese.
BMI is an estimate of your body fat!
There are some limitations of the index –
If you work out a lot and have high muscle mass the BMI can be elevated and if you are frail and lost high amount of muscle mass – the BMI can be low not reflecting your true overall body mass index.
The higher your BMI, the higher your risk for certain diseases such as heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, and other diseases.
